Shooting Disciplines

At NDDRA, we celebrate and promote precision shooting sports under the guidance of NRAI & ISSF norms. Our competitive events are categorized into three primary disciplines — Pistol, Rifle, and Shotgun. Each discipline is crafted to test the shooter’s accuracy, control, technique, and dedication. Whether you’re an amateur or a professional, understanding these formats is the first step in mastering the sport.

Pistol Shooting Events

Pistol shooting involves short-distance accuracy using small-caliber firearms like .177, .22, or .32 caliber pistols. Events in this category challenge both timing and target precision across various formats, each suited for men, women, or juniors. Athletes compete in controlled environments ranging from 10m to 50m.

Event Description
10m Air Pistol
Indoor event with .177 Cal. air pistols. Men shoot 60 rounds; Women 40. Focuses on trigger control and sight alignment at 10 meters.
50m Free Pistol
Long-distance precision event using .22 Cal pistols. Competitors shoot 60 rounds at targets 50m away. High steadiness required.
25m Centre-Fire Pistol
.32 Cal pistol event split into precision and rapid fire stages. Designed for male athletes.
25m Rapid Fire Pistol
.22 Cal. match with 5 targets per round and decreasing time limits (8s to 4s). Tests reflex and speed under pressure.
25m Standard Pistol
.22 Cal. pistol event involving 3 timed stages: 150s, 20s, and 10s. Precision-based challenge over 30 or 60 shots.
25m Sports Pistol
Split into precision and rapid-fire phases. Designed for women and junior men using .22 Cal pistols. Total shots: 30–60.

Rifle Shooting Events

Rifle events require extreme precision and consistency. Shooters aim at targets from 10m to 300m, often in standing, kneeling, and prone positions. These events are technical and physically demanding, involving highly accurate .177 to .308 caliber rifles.

Event Description
10m Air Rifle
Indoor event using .177 air rifles. Shooters fire 40–60 rounds from a standing position at 10m distance.
50m Rifle Prone
.22 Cal. rifles fired from prone position at 50m. Emphasizes stillness and breath control.
50m Rifle 3-Position
Competitors shoot from prone, standing, and kneeling positions. Score based on 20–40 shots in each stance.
300m Rifle Prone / 3-Position
Outdoor long-range event using larger caliber rifles (6mm/.308). Requires elite marksmanship and endurance.

Shotgun Shooting Events

Shotgun events focus on hitting fast-moving clay targets with 12-bore shotguns. Athletes rotate between multiple stations and fire at targets launched from various directions. Speed, accuracy, and rhythm are vital to succeed.

Event Description
Clay Pigeon Trap Shooting Clay discs are launched away from the shooter. Athletes rotate across 5 stations, firing at single targets.
Double Trap Two targets are launched simultaneously at different angles. High-level coordination required for both hits.
Skeet Shooting Targets fly in crossing paths from high and low houses across 8 stations. Fast reflexes and anticipation are critical.
